The composite material mold is composed of upper and lower parts, and uses custom additive manufacturing to replace the traditional resin + glass fiber and other mold making methods.
The 3D printed mold display is approximately six feet wide, three feet deep, and four feet high. The two mold halves were manufactured in only 6 hours, and they were made of carbon fiber reinforced ABS plastic.
This 3D printing mold making efficiency is indeed very high, and may have certain efficiency advantages in sample development and other aspects. But for long-term use of batch parts processing, I personally have reservations. I am worried that the strength and durability of the mold are not satisfactory enough. After all, the traditional lamination molding method seems to be more reliable!
It is also possible that in the near future, there will be composite materials with higher bonding strength to address this concern. But at present, it can only be seen as news.
